Religious Instructions:-

CELEBRATIONS OF IMPORTANT FESTIVALS

In our school most festivals are celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervor.

On Holi, colours are distributed amongst students and then they play colours under the supervision of Staff. At night special dinner is served to the students and staff.

On Raksha Bhandhan, sisters tie ‘Rakhi’ to their brothers and there after sweets are distributed amongst the students. Girls having their brothers in other schools are sent to their respective schools.

On Janamashthami the students go to the temple with teachers and in the evening they do ‘Aarti’, distribute ‘Prasad ‘ followed by a special dinner later on.

On teacher’s day, the students act as teachers and the teachers as students. Different programmes take place thus making the school an exciting place.

On Deepawali crackers and sweets are distributed to the students and then the students celebrate the festival under the care of teachers. In the evening there is a special dinner in the school; after the spectacular firework display.

On children’s day the teachers present a cultural programme. Sweets are distributed to the students.

On the eve of Id-ul-fitr the Muslim students go to the mosque with the teachers, and then are given a special meal.

On Guru Nanak’s Birthday the Sikh students go to the Gurudwaras with the teachers for worshiping and then they are given special meals.

However it is pertinent to mention that the school has a festive look around the year despite its sobriety. We try and make each day an exciting one with so many activities happening daily.

Reports and Promotions :-

The school academic year, from early March to end November, is divided into two terms. For promotion, the achievement of children in quarterly and half yearly and Final examinations is taken into account. Parents are informed about the progress of children regularly. Besides quarterly, half yearly and annual examinations, class tests are held regularly throughout the year. Students taking their academics lightly are penalized.

REPORT ON THE SCHOOL EXAMINATION

Mussoorie Public School conducts examinations regularly and timely for the evaluation of academic progress of the students. Within an academic year there are three class tests, and a quarterly, half-yearly and the final examination.

The promotion of the students depends upon the aggregate of all these exams.

Final result is calculated by adding the following:

1) Average of three class-tests results
2) 10% of quarterly result.
3) 20 % of half-yearly
4) 60% of final exam

We evaluate the academic level and other personal qualities of the student.

REPORT ON FOUNDERS DAY 2004 & LIST OF PRIZE DIST. FUNCTION 2004 :-

The Founder’s Day - 1 October each year

A delightful blend of music, dance and drama is what Founders' Day of any school is all about. In the present scenario, education has come to be a complex interplay of multiple factors and is abuzz with ceaseless activities. The Founder's Day in any school is a perfect occasion for children to unwind their talents in an unfettered manner to their optimal degree of performance.

Mussoorie Public School celebrated its 38th Founders' Day on 1st October 04. Maj. General Deepak Summanwar, presided over the function. The school campus was decked like a bride and exuberance and radiant joy could be seen on every Muplican's face. The Function commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest at 12.30 p.m. He had a look at the Science, Art and Craft Exhibition

which displayed Muplicans' year old accomplishments in these areas. Thereafter he was escorted to the auditorium where a delightful 2 hrs cultural programme awaited him.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp, Ganesh Stuti was the first item through which the young girls of XI-XII invoked the blessings of Lord Ganesha. 'Peter Pirate' was an English Play put up by the junior wing students. After this the school orchestra took over. Melodious numbers like 'I just called to say ' and 'Country Roads' made their way straight into the audience's hearts.

'The Judgement of Paris' an exclusively MPS presentation exhibited the acting skills of the students. The character of Robichon won en-masse acclaim. After this play, a classical ballet named 'Goverdhan Puja' in Kathak was presented by those students whose motherland does not happen to be India. They convincingly conveyed the message of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam (the whole universe is - a family) The cultural programme came to an end on a patriotic musical note in the form of 'Ma Tujhe Salaam'; a live singing of the song by Hamid Mussa and dancing by Junior 'boys n girls'.

After this, another round of programmes took place on the school flats where the chief guest gave away the prizes for different Inter- House activities held during the year.

The Principal Mr. S.S. Das presented the school report and the school captain Rohit Kedia delivered the vote of thanks.

The star ‘Kalakar’ was Hamid Mussa who stole the show with his melodious voice. He was awarded a special prize.

The function came to an end to around 5:00 a.m.
